Cyber Safety Day 2

Unit EQ: How do you protect your safety on the Internet
LEQ: What sort of things does a cyber predator do to trick people.
Activating Strategies: Have students try to ask questions to get personal info. Questions listed below.

Teaching Strategies and Distributed Guided Practice/Summarizing Prompts:
  1. Underline any unsafe information in the screen names and during the converstation.
  2. Discuss what was unsafe and why it is so.
  3. Handout -cyber safety day 3.pdf (the 4 R's of Interent Safety) (Page 6) and review with class.
  4. Recognize, Refuse, Respond, Report.
  • Watch the soccer video (Saved in MS/Tech/21stCentury... folder)
  • Grooming process - Give students the cybersafety day 2.pdf (Page 5) and use it to review the video.
Summarizing Strategies:

Give students assignment for Day 5 to respond on Ning message board to the following questions: *

  • Why do students often feel safe on the internet?
  • What are some dangers off assuming the Internet is safe?
